Henna Tree
Mehndi is an ancient art work originated from ancient India. Mehndi is the process of tattooing the palms, hands, legs, etc. by applying paste of natural herb known as Henna. Mehndi tattoos are temporary and persists for 10 to 15 days. Mehndi is famous in Asian subcontinent.

Mehndi is done to women during the weddings, festivals and in special occasions. But now a days, the women and girls are done with Mehndi even in normal days. Fabulous Mehndi designs are applied to the Brides before wedding ceremony. Some times Bridegrooms also done with the Mehndi designs during wedding ceremony.

Mehndi designs are done by applying henna paste using the plastic cones like writing with cream on cakes. Then Mehndi design is left to dry and wait for 3 to 4 hours. The dried henna paste is removed. The tattoo is in the orange to dark brown color depend on the body nature.

Henna is a Ayurvedic herb which has the properties like anti-carcinogenic, anti- inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pyre-tic.

The people believes that the henna removes the excess body heat.

That's why Mehndi has its own cultural, medicinal and arts importance.

My daughter is very much fascinated about the Mehndi and here is the pic of her with Mehndi Design on her Hands:
